Product of the Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Use Program (COSSUP) funded by BJA.
Description
Examines 3 rural sites in Arkansas, New Mexico, and Minnesota that implemented services to divert individuals with substance use disorders (SUDs) who have been arrested away from jail booking and/or court involvement and connect them with SUD treatment. Describes how efforts at each site were aligned with the Sequential Intercept Model (SIM) at Intercept 2 when an individual with a behavioral health disorder is arrested, is going through initial intake and booking, and faces a hearing presided over by a judge or magistrate. Program activities were developed as part of Rural Responses to the Opioid Epidemic (RROE) project.
