Description
Provides training and technical assistance to government agencies, justice systems, and communities to plan and implement strategies to reduce recidivism and substance use among justice involved individuals and promote community health and safety. Includes assistance to Second Chance Act and other Office of Justice Programs (OJP) grantees.
What This Program Offers
Center for Health and Justice can provide:
- Customized consulting to implement evidence-based solutions and build integrated criminal justice, behavioral health, and community systems
- Training to jurisdictions utilizing the latest knowledge, practical research, direct experience, and tools that are directly applicable to practice
- Public policy solutions to develop collaborative, meaningful, and lasting improvements for systems and communities
- Collaboration with researchers to compile, consolidate, and communicate findings that help improve policy, practice, and results
Focus areas include but are not limited to:
- Alternatives to incarceration
- Community reentry
- First responder-led deflection
- Justice reform
- Medication for addiction treatment (MAT)
- Police, court, jail & prison diversion
- Recovery-oriented systems
- Substance use & mental health
Who Can Receive Services from This Program
Government agencies, criminal/juvenile justice providers, and communities working to strengthen justice systems and behavioral health are eligible to participate.
