Description
Provides training and technical assistance to organizations and professionals who serve victims of crime. Aims to build the capacity of providers to enhance victim services and identify and reach underserved crime victims. Offers assistance in several focus areas, including human trafficking, mass violence and terrorism, culturally responsive services, vicarious trauma and resiliency, elder fraud, trauma-informed organizations, and more.
What This Program Offers
OVC Training and Technical Assistance Center can provide:
- Technical assistance provided as one-to-one or group consultation, coaching, or training through in-person, phone, email, or virtual formats or a combination of these
- Customized trainings held in half-day, multiple day, or a short series of training sessions
- Assistance conducting organizational needs assessments, designing targeted responses, and developing evaluation strategies to track program performance and outcomes
- Speaker support to have a consultant participate as a speaker/presenter at a conference or event
- Professional development scholarships for individuals or teams with at least 1 year of experience to attend trainings and conferences
- National Victim Assistance Academy trainings offering an intensive, interactive learning experience to build skills and knowledge
- Victim Assistance Training (VAT) Online web-based victim assistance training platform
- Learning communities to promote peer-to-peer information sharing, networking, collaboration, and support for specific groups and populations
- Resource library including publications, videos, webinars, instructor materials, and more on various topics related to victim services
Who Can Receive Services from This Program
Eligible participants must work in community or state agencies, nonprofits, tribal organizations, and other institutions that serve victims of crime and may include:
- Victim service providers
- Criminal justice professionals
- Allied professionals, such as mental health, medical, clergy, and others
