Description
Provides training and technical assistance to states, tribes, and local communities to support the delivery of mental health and substance use-related services in response to disasters. Offers expert consultation, training, and other resources to help communities prepare for and respond to the behavioral health needs of individuals during and after a natural or human-caused disaster. Includes resources focused on special populations, including rural, tribal, and other communities that experience disparities during disaster events.
What This Program Offers
SAMHSA DTAC can provide:
- Consultation with subject matter experts and peer-to-peer assistance on disaster behavioral health planning and post-disaster interventions
- Disaster behavioral health planners resource portal with disaster-specific resources and information on addressing the needs of special populations
- Survivors of disasters resource portal with information on possible reactions to disasters and resources for survivors to prepare for and manage disasters or traumatic events
- First responders and disaster responders resource portal focused on stress management and behavioral health for those responding to disasters
- Online training, resource library, newsletters, podcasts, videos, and a disaster response template toolkit
- Technical assistance to Crisis Counseling Assistance and Training Program (CCP) grantees, including a CCP toolkit
