Description

Provides technical assistance to improve and support state systems and local programs implementing the Pyramid Model for Supporting Social-Emotional Competence in Infants and Young Children (Pyramid Model) to improve the social, emotional, and behavioral outcomes of young children with, and at risk for, developmental disabilities or delays. Works with early childhood programs to reduce the use of inappropriate discipline practices, promote family engagement, use data for decision-making, integrate early childhood and infant mental health consultation, and foster inclusion.

What This Program Offers

The National Center for Pyramid Model Innovations (NCPMI) can provide:

  • Web-based resources, tools, modules, webinars, guides, training resources, and other materials that will strengthen the implementation of the Pyramid Model
  • Targeted resources for different stakeholders, including administrators, early childhood educators and staff, families, and community members
  • Resources specific to integrating trauma-informed care and infant and early childhood mental health consultation with the Pyramid Model
  • Technical assistance to state and local early intervention programs and early childhood programs that will provide the strategies, tools, materials, guidance, and capacity to implement and scale up the Pyramid Model
  • Technical assistance to states to support local implementation and state scale up of the Pyramid Model to improve the social, emotional, and behavioral development of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in early care and education programs and in home settings
  • Resources to support families with young children during stressful emergency or disaster situations
  • Mentoring of future leaders in the field to understand and promote the implementation and scale-up of an early childhood multi-tiered system of supports framework focused on social, emotional, and behavioral development of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers

Eligible participants who can receive assistance include:

  • States, local programs, early intervention service providers, and program and school administrators
  • Early childhood educators and program and school support staff, including coaches and trainers
  • Early intervention professionals
  • Families and community members
  • Policymakers

Technical assistance is currently only offered to state, territories, and tribes.
