Purpose
Provides funding to support the creation of new youth-focused, peer-driven behavioral healthcare support programs and establishing behavioral health career pathway opportunities in rural communities. Promotes the establishment of a network of community organizations to develop and implement behavioral health programming for rural youth.
Program goals include:
- Goal 1: Pathway - establish pathway programs to introduce youth to behavioral health careers and facilitate admittance into formalized training programs
- Goal 2: Engagement - engage youth to develop and implement peer-driven behavioral health programming in rural communities
- Goal 3: Sustainability - develop innovative, multi-sectoral approaches to ensure the continued availability of RCORP-Pathways supported activities in the target rural service area
The target population is middle school and high school aged youth living in rural communities; however, no individuals may be excluded from participating in program activities on the basis of age.
The first year of the award may be used for planning purposes, including establishing partnerships, developing curriculum, and engaging. A detailed list of program requirements and expectations can be found in the funding announcement.

Award ceiling: $400,000 per year

Who Can Apply
Eligible applicants include:
- Public or private institutions of higher education
- Nonprofits with or without 501(c)(3) IRS status
- Private for-profit organizations and small businesses
- City, county, township, and special district governments
- States and territories
- Independent school districts
- Native American tribal governments and tribal organizations
Applicants must meet other eligibility criteria:
- Specify a target rural service area that contains only counties and/or census tracts that are designated rural by using the Rural Health Grants Eligibility Analyzer
- Include letters of commitment from at least 3 additional potential network members
- Ensure that at least 50% of proposed network members have a physical location within the target rural service area
